Utica GOP Committee Endorses Robert Cardillo For Mayor

Utica, NY (WIBX) - The City of Utica Republican Committee has endorsed Robert Cardillo to run for mayor this fall.

Another candidate for the nomination, City Comptroller Michael Cerminaro, was expected to screen for the seat but officially withdrew his name from consideration prior to the screening on Wednesday night.

However, the name next to the Republican line in Novermber may be determined in September. Cerminaro told WIBX than an official announcement on his plans could come 'in the next few days', and 'more than likely', he would primary Cardillo for the nomination.  

Earlier in the day, current Democratic Mayor David Roefaro announced he would not seek re-election.
