Utica Dollars For Scholars has nearly $50,000 in new scholarships for 2017.

Sourced by supportive community members and fundraisers, they will be giving away over $100,000 in scholarships this year. Hundreds of applications have been rolling in, yet they strongly encourage all students to apply for every scholarship they're eligible for.

Last year Utica Dollars for Scholars awarded 88 scholarships. Since it's founding over 20 years ago, they have awarded hundreds of thousands in scholarships to support local students. The group is comprised of dedicated community and school volunteers who want local students to succeed. Their website states, "The Mission of Utica Dollars for Scholars is to establish and maintain a growing source of financial and academic support for local students."

Graduating seniors from Notre Dame and Proctor High School can apply for both the Dr. John P. Sheehan and Virginia A. Bowmaker scholarships. Dollars for Scholars has four $2000 Dr. Sheehan scholarships, one that awards $3000 every year for 4 years and several more.

Eligible students can learn more and apply on their website. The application deadline is April 15th.
