Mohawk Valley Water Authority crews are working to repair a very large water main break on Valley View Road.

The break will cause a number of houses in the New Hartford, Utica and Frankfort areas to be out of water, experience low pressure or discolored water

The break is in the same area where two water main breaks occurred earlier this week and is affecting generally the same streets.

MVWA officials say they're working to repair the break and restore water service as quickly as possible.

UPDATE 1:22 p.m.-  MVWA officials say they hope to have water service restored by mid-afternoon.  Once service is restored, crews will be flushing the area.

UPDATE 2:56 p.m.- Mohawk Valley Water Authority crews have completed repairs on a large main break on the lower portion of Valley View Road.

Crews will be flushing hydrants and removing air from the system in order to restore full pressure.

As a result of the break, the Boil Water Advisory issued earlier this week for portions of Southeast Utica, Frankfort and the lower Tilden Ave area in New Hartford will remain in effect for at least another 20 to 24 hours.
