A War War II veteran from Whitesboro who served in the Army in 1944 and 1945 finally has the medals he earned but never received.

Congressman Richard Hanna presented several medals to Barney Boris on Friday, including the Silver Star, which is the third-highest military decoration of valor, and the Purple Heart Medal.

The 95-year old Boris, who was a member of the 79th Infantry Division in Central Europe, also received the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze service stars.

He  was also presented with his high school diploma from Rome Free Academy that he was never able to receive because of his military service.

Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente  attended the ceremony in the Congressman's Utica Office, along with many of Boris' family members.
