Oneida County, NY (WIBX) - Tomorrow marks the beginning of this year's Youth Turkey Hunting Weekend in all of Upstate New York and for the first time in Suffolk County. Children ages 12 to 15 are encouraged to hunt for turkey this weekend, provided they are accompanied by a parent, guardian or experienced hunter. Shooting hours will start one half hour before sunrise and will conclude at noon on both days. All youth hunters and the adults accompanying them must have hunting licenses and turkey permits.

The 2011 spring turkey season starts on May 1st. For kids who successfully bag a turkey this weekend, it will be counted for their regular season bag limit. For more information or to find a sportsman education class in your area contact, 1-888-HUNT-ED2, (1-888-486-8332).
