Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Oneida County District Attorney's Office has announced the arrests of 37 people
for welfare and unemployment fraud.

The arrests were part of "Operation Tax Burden."

District Attorney Scott McNamara says the suspects have collectively received over
$100,000 in illegal benefits.

The largest alleged theft involved Kimberly Hanson-Tennant, who received more than
$14,000.

Charges against the 37 include grand larceny, obtaining welfare by fraud and misuse of
food stamps.

McNamara says his office will continue to aggressively investigate these types of cases in which individuals cheat the system and thereby steal from taxpayers.
