Authorities say 79-year-old Freddie Maliwacki Sr. was the driver of a car that was clocked traveling northbound at 93 mph on Interstate 81 near the Pennsylvania state line in the town of Kirkwood.

A state trooper tried to stop the speeding car on the highway with emergency lights and siren but the driver would not pull over.

The pursuit, which started just after 4 p.m. Monday, covered several rural roads in the towns of Kirkwood and Windsor.

A Broome County sheriff's deputy deployed a spike strip on Route 79 in Windsor. Police say Maliwacki continued to drive after the vehicle's tires were punctured.

The 2010 Toyota Corolla was driven around the Golden Oak Golf Course for a few minutes until it hit an embankment and became disabled. No golfers were struck.

Maliwacki was charged with felony reckless endangerment and criminal mischief. He was arraigned in Windsor town court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.
