The Herkimer Police Department has arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery in Meyers Park.

The incident occurred at 11:00 A.M. on Monday morning. It is alleged that 50-year-old Juan Ayuso approached an older gentleman and asked him for money. When the man refused Ayuso displayed a knife and threatened the man.

Ayuso then took the man's money and left the scene. After several interviews were conducted by police, it was determined Ayuso was inside a local business just before the robbery took place. By 2:00 P.M. police has the suspect in custody.

The man who was robbed was not injured. Ayuso is charged with Robbery in the First Degree (with a weapon), Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, Menacing in the First Degree (with a weapon) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.

He is being held without bail as he has three prior felony convictions.
