Arrest Made in Utica’s Latest Homicide

Utica Police say a suspect in the murder of Deon Williams of Utica is in custody.

Williams was found shot on the 1000 block of Bleecker Street last week and died at a local hospital.

Police say 34-year old Omar Ortiz was arrested near Erie, Pennsylvania on June 30th.

They says while in Pennsylvania, Ortiz committed other felony related crimes which he is currently being held on.

Ortiz will face extradition and ultimately will be brought to Utica to face charges here.

The UPD is thanking the community for their cooperation in the investigation.
