Loudonville, NY (WIBX) - Despite recent stock market gains, consumer confidence remains weak in New York State.According to the latest Siena Research Institute Poll, consumer confidence decreased 2.6 points in October, while the nation's confidence increased by one-and-a-half points.

New York's overall consumer confidence is nearly two points below the nation's 60.9 confidence level.

The state's current outlook is at its lowest level since the recession of 2008.

Siena Research Institute Director Douglas Lonnstrom says New Yorkers continue to see bad times, both now and in the future.
