SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — A state crackdown on underage drinking has led to almost three dozen arrests in upstate New York so far in 2017.

WSTM-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2kwgR0x ) that investigators from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles made 33 arrests after conducting sweeps throughout upstate New York. Investigators focused on popular bars and restaurants in Cortland where State University of New York at Cortland is located.

DMV officials also targeted bars and a liquor store in Albany.

Fake IDs were confiscated from several states including Connecticut, Pennsylvania and New York.

In January, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that DMV investigators had made over 800 underage drinking arrests in 2016.
