LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) — A 41-year-old New York driver has been sentenced to six months in jail for a hit-and-run that killed a 16-year-old boy.

Anthony DiFilippo also received five years of probation at his sentencing Monday in state Supreme Court in Lockport.

DiFilippo struck Ryan Fischer while driving in the Niagara County town of Wheatfield in November 2014.

His attorney says he used bad judgment by leaving the scene afterward, but that he wasn't drunk or on drugs.

Prosecutors say DiFilippo was texting shortly before the accident and afterward had his car repaired.

At his sentencing, DiFilippo apologized and said he thinks about the victim and his family every day.
