Albany, NY (WIBX) - Former New York Governor Hugh Carey has died.

Carey died on Sunday at his home on Long Island. 

He was 92.

Carey was governor of New York from 1975 to 1982 after serving seven terms in Congress.

He's best remembered for leading the state during New York City's fiscal crisis of 1975.

Governor Cuomo calls Carey a stalwart leader who worked to create programs to benefit the unserved members of society.
