The Genesis Group has announced the creation of the "Mohawk Valley Data Analytics Task Force."

The announcement came at the conclusion of a community round-table held today at Harts Hill Inn in Whitesboro.

Executive Director Ray Durso says the task force will have two initial assignments.

Durso says the group will explore how area businesses can harness the power of data sciences to make more informed strategic decisions

He says they'll also work with area academic institutions to enhance training opportunities for the next generation of data professionals.

Heading up the task force will be co-chairs Franca Armstrong, Dean of the Mohawk Valley Community College Rome campus, and Frank Behlmer, a retired BNY Mellon executive and Genesis consultant.

Building a reputation as a leader in the study and real-world application of data analytics and decision science will help the Mohawk Valley attract the businesses of the future, strengthen existing enterprises, and recruit top students and academics,” Behlmer said. “Data analytics and decision science give organizations a clear advantage in an increasingly competitive and complex world. It is already being embraced by many area businesses, government entities and non-profits, including banks, health organizations and insurance companies.”

Additional members of the task force will be named soon.

The group will hold its first meeting next month.
