New York, NY (WIBX) - Parents and school staff are dumb-founded by the decision made by P.S. 90 Principal Greta Hawkins to ban Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" from their June 20th kindergarten graduation ceremony at school in Brooklyn.

Saying that the song is "offensive" to other cultures and that the opening lyrics, in which a man talks about losing everything but his family, are not appropriate for five-year olds.  In its place she reportedly chose Justin Bieber's "Baby."  Although that selection was not officially listed on the program, consideration of it has been relinquished after parents questioned its appropriateness.

For his part Lee Greenwood has said that he's offended by the Principal's actions.  He explains that the song reflects his love of the country and "the struggle we have gone through the remain free....How could that be wrong on any level?"

WIBX will update the story to reveal the school's final selection as soon as it is decided.
