Congressman Richard Hanna was joined by local officials at Griffiss International Airport in Rome today, calling for Congress to pass a new, long-term federal aviation bill.

Hanna says the bill would provide avenues for local airports like Griffiss to receive federal funding for upgrades and repairs through the Airport Improvement Program. Griffiss received $6.3 million from the program in 2014.

Hanna say a multi-year bill would also provide stable funding and boost the work NUAIR is doing at the airport with unmanned aircraft systems.

Current funding for the FAA expires in September.

Hanna serves as the senior New York Republican on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and is a member of the Aviation Subcommittee.
