Local Groups Highlight Earned Income Tax Credit

With tax filing season here, the Mohawk Valley Asset Building Coalition and the Resource Center for Independent Living are highlighting the Earned Income Tax Credit.

The credit helps low to moderate income taxpayers keep more of what they earn.

Program Coordinator Danny McClain says last year, over $2.4 million was returned to local residents and 2.700 free tax returns were prepared.

For households earning $50,000 a year or less, trained volunteers will e-file taxes for free.

The program runs through April 15th.
