The Madison County Sheriff's Office is investigating an act of vandalism that caused significant damage to Brookfield Central School.

Officials with the school district say someone broke into the building on Monday night and turned on water faucets and an emergency shower/eye wash station in a laboratory.

That resulted in water overflowing through the building.  Damaged areas included the second floor hall, offices and science classroom and the cafeteria.

Classes at the school were cancelled yesterday and today.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Madison County Sheriff's Office at (315) 336-2427.
