Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri and Alex Carbone were on Oriskany Street on Tuesday to unveil a new proposed location for The Fitness Mill.

If approved by the City’s Urban Renewal Agency on Thursday, the new gym and fitness center would be located at 1532 Oriskany Street.

"We believe in the potential of Oriskany Street," Palmieri said. "You can see the growth before your eyes. There's streetwork, recently build buildings and new ones popping up. The Fitness Mill is going to come in and be one of those anchors that defines this corridor for years to come."

The property has been owned by the City since 2016.  Carbone's offer for the property is $400,000.

The City will demolish the current building on the site in the coming weeks and if the project is approved, shovels can be in the ground by the fall.

Carbone says the Fitness Mill, which is located in New York Mills, has been growing and needs more space to accommodate the rising membership
