New Hartford, NY (WIBX) - New Hartford Police arrested a student from Ralph Perry Junior High School and charged him with making a terroristic threat. Sgt. Michael Kowalski says the arrest follows an investigation into the incident that was reported yesterday morning.

Sgt. Kowalski said, "A threat was received from another student within the school shortly after the school was in session in the morning hours. New Hartford Officers were contacted by the principal of the school who reported that the student had received this threat via text message from another student, saying that he was going to bring bombs to the school on a future date and blow up the school."

A juvenile was subsequently arrested and charged with a Class D Felony. Because he's a minor, the students name and age is not being released. Also, due to his age, the case will be handled in Family Court. Kowalski says whether the threat was meant as a joke or not, these types of incidences are taken extremely seriously by law enforcement officials.
