New York To Post School Cafeteria Inspections Online
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York City will soon post the results of school cafeteria inspections online.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the new policy into law on Wednesday. The change won't apply to any schools outside the New York City limits.
Cuomo says parents deserve to know if their children are eating food that was prepared safely. He calls the new rule a "common sense measure" that will "hopefully" give parents peace of mind.
The inspections will be posted on the city Department of Education's website. Parents and members of the public also will be able to see the nature of any safety violations as well as what steps have been taken to correct them.
The new requirement will take effect in 90 days.
