No Pay Raise For New York Lawmakers
It looks like New York state lawmakers will not be getting their first pay raise in nearly two decades.
The New York State Commission on Legislative, Judicial and Executive Compensation met today and decided against recommending a pay increase.
It was the commission's last meeting of the year.
A special session on the issue could be called or another panel could be formed to look into the matter.
Albany politicians who are the third highest paid state lawmakers in the country claim the job takes up most of their time, so they deserve more money. The current base pay for legislators is just over $79,000.
