There was nothing royal about a Palm Beach man's alleged actions.  A man mowing a lawn was taken into custody on Wednesday after reports surfaced that he intentionally ran over a family of ducklings.

24-Year-old Jason Scott Falbo of Royal Palm Beach is facing animal cruelty charges after Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the scene at a home in Wellington, Florida on May 2nd.

Falbo is being held at the West Detention Center on bond.  The nine charges of animal cruelty, causing death with pain and suffering, stem from allegations that Falbo went after the mother duck and her eleven ducklings while sitting on a riding lawnmower.  According to police and witness reports Falbo repeatedly ran over the ducklings with the mower.

Florida's Sun-Sentinel spoke the family who live at the home where Falbo was mowing.  Reporter Kate Jacobson quotes Boyd Jentzsch, who had fed the ducks earlier in the day with his seven-year-old son Kai and later witnessed the incident, "We were horrified...I couldn't believe it was happening. It was totally disgusting."

Although authorities have not said much officially about the case of the ducklings, they have confirmed that Falbo was previously arrested on March 31, 2015 on the following domestic abuse-related charges:

  • Domestic Battery by Strangulation
  • Cruelty toward Child / Aggravated Child Abuse
  • Battery / Touch or Strike
