The Oneida Indian Nation has released a new poll showing that if the Washington Redskins changed their name, the vast majority of DC-area residents would continue to support the team.

73% of those surveyed say the move would not weaken their support for the team or would actually strengthen their support.

The poll also found 77% of respondents believe that Redskins' owner Daniel Snyder should meet face-to-face with Native Americans who have expressed concerns about the use of the Redskins as the NFL teams's name.

The Oneidas are conducting public opinion polling as part of their "Change The Mascot" campaign.
