Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente presented his 2017 budget proposal to the Board of Legislators this morning.

The $393.4 million dollar budget contains a zero-percent property tax increase. The spending plan represents a $1-million dollar increase over this year's budget.

It's the fourth consecutive budget with a zero-percent tax increase.

Legislators must adopt a budget by November 9th.  Public hearings on the budget will be held on November. 7th from 7:00 to 8:30 at the Rome County Courthouse and on November, 8th from 7:00 to 8:30 in the Board of Legislators Chamber in Utica.

In his budget address, Picente announced the formation of a nine-member committee to make recommendations on restructuring the sales tax formula for municipalities.

The committee will be made up of Picente, the Chairman of the Board of Legislators, the Majority and Minority leaders, the Mayors of Utica and Rome and three town representatives select by the President of the Association of Towns

The committee has until January 1st to make its final recommendation.
