Rome Mayor Releases 2017 Budget
Rome Mayor Jacqueline Izzo has presented her 2017 budget proposal to the Common Council.
The $42.6 million spending plan carries a tax increase of 1.57 percent, below the state's two-percent tax cap.
That equates to a tax hike for property owners of less than 32-cents per thousand, which Izzo says will have a minimal impact on already overburdened taxpayers.
Izzo says putting the budget together and staying under the tax cap was very challenging. The budget is her first since taking office.
The Common Council must act on the budget by the end of October.
