Police Charge Woman with DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding

Utica, NY (WIBX) - Police arrested a Utica woman early Saturday evening on DWI charges and several traffic violations.

According to the arresting officer, 36 year old Yaa Francis was pulled over by police after they observed her driving a Cadillac Escalade down Kemble Street, at a high rate of speed. It's believed Francis tried evading Utica Police by ignoring red lights and driving through stop signs. She was eventually detained on South Street and charged with 2 counts of Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving and seven traffic violation. Francis was also ticketed for not having an insuranced vehicle.

Her passenger, 46 year old Micheal Magee was also arrested for Criminal Mischief for his alleged actions at City Liquors, just moments before police observed the speeding Escalade on Kemble Street.

According the the liqour store owner, the two came into the store arguing and when the owner refused to sell them alcohol, Magee became irate and threw the bottle into a display area, smashing several full bottles.
