DUNMORE, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say they have captured a man accused of killing one Pennsylvania State trooper and seriously injuring another during an ambush outside police barracks.

Police say they have 31-year-old Eric Frein in custody. The ambush was Sept. 12. The seven-week hunt for him ended Thursday.

Police haven't released details of the capture.

Authorities have called Frein a survivalist who had a vendetta against law enforcement. They had been pursuing him in the woods and had reported several suspected sightings.

Frein is charged with opening fire outside the Blooming Grove barracks on Sept. 12. Cpl. Bryon Dickson was killed, and Trooper Alex Douglass was critically wounded in the attack.

The gunman slipped away, sparking a massive manhunt.
