NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a prisoner slipped out of her handcuffs and escaped from a New York City hospital.

The New York Police Department says Tiffany Neumann escaped from NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital around 2 p.m. Sunday.

They say the 23-year-old had been arrested Saturday on petit larceny, theft of services and possession of stolen property charges.

She was taken from Manhattan's central booking facility to the hospital Sunday afternoon. Police didn't give a reason for the hospital trip.

Police say she slipped out of her handcuffs and then walked out of the hospital. She was last seen wearing a hospital gown.

It was not immediately clear whether Neumann had an attorney who could comment.
