The Red Cross of the Mohawk Valley is announcing a partnership with the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties.

The Community foundation recently invested $50,000 into the 'Ready CNY' program that is aimed at making residents of Oneida and Herkimer Counties better prepared for another major disaster.

"We're thankful for our volunteers who were able to provide needed relief supplies and emotional support to the residents of Oneida and Herkimer Counties following last year's floods," said Red Cross Regional CEO Rosie Taravella. "We're also thankful for this partnership with the Community Foundation that will enable us to educate the residents about disaster preparedness through a variety of programs connected with Ready CNY."

The Red Cross is also commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Mohawk Valley Floods by honoring all of the volunteers who provided relief and support to flood damaged communities.
