Rome, NY (WIBX) - The City of Rome will receive a $500,000 state grant for Brownfield remediation
and community development.

Assemblywoman RoAnn Destito says the grant will alllow Rome to complete a marketing
strategy for 513 acres of land located from the center of the city to the East Rome Industrial
Park.

That area contains 364 Brownfield and vacant sites, including the former General Cable site.

Destito says the grant will allow Rome to clean up those areas so they can be marketed and
reused for commercial and business tenants, recreation and even residential projects.

She says development of the property will not only benefit the tax base in Rome, but also the
economic development of the entire region.
