WATERFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Police are searching an area where three upstate New York waterways meet for a missing 14-year-old boy with autism.

Local media report that the search for Anthony Blaauboer began Wednesday in Waterford near the confluence of the Erie Canal and the Mohawk and Hudson rivers.

Police from several agencies and emergency crews conducted water and land searches near the canal's Lock 2. They resumed the search effort Thursday morning. His family has asked for volunteers to help with the search.

The teen reportedly went out for a walk Wednesday and was reported missing when he didn't return.
