The safety of countless residents may be at risk while the State of New York is spending as yet untold sums of money in the search for two prisoners who escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility more than four days ago.

As the manhunt continues some are saying that this whole thing could be avoided if a) the prisoners were not helped from the inside and b) escapees Richard Matt and David Sweat had been microchipped.

Would such a measure be a violation of their rights or do they lose those rights once they are convicted of murder?

And, if murderers are chipped, are the most vulnerable members of our society - i.e. children and the elderly - chipped as well for their "protection?"  Where, then, would it end?  Or is the case with prisoners different entirely?
