The FX Matt Brewery is getting a makeover.

The Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate the Grand Opening of the FX Matt Brewing Company's Saranac 1888 Tavern and Tasting Room.

With the growing popularity of craft beer and locally produced wine and spirits, many folks are beginning to plan their vacations around cities with popular craft breweries and events.

This week's craft beer of the week on WIBX First News with Keeler in the Morning comes from Central New York.

For those of you Saranac fanatics who have always wondered when the 1888 Tavern will be open to the public for some after-work drinks there is finally an answer and it is "Now!" The tap house above the brewery shop at 830 Varick Street is now open on select days as a fully functioning bar.

The 17th season of Saranac Thursday gets underway tonight at the FX Matt Brewery and runs through September 3rd.

The 2015 Saranac Thursday Band Schedule has been announced.

The Genesis Group is hosting the 4th annual Taste of the Mohawk Valley at the Saranac Brewery on Friday April 17 from 5-8 PM.

As the year comes to a close, most people are taking the time to look back and reflect on their favorite things of 2014, and since I was born and raised in the Mohawk Valley I thought I'd take a look back at one of my favorite Mohawk Valley institutions - Saranac beer and the F.X. Matt Brewery's continued success brewing new and creative beer.
