Local singer Shawn "Big Sexy" Smith, who is a member of the Central New York band, "Showtime" has auditioned for the upcoming season of "The Voice" on NBC.

Smith participated in a try-out last season, but didn't make the show.

The new season of NBC's "The Voice" premieres on September 23rd and airs locally on WKTV.

While Smith could not be reached for comment, his Facebook Page features the "I auditioned" photo as his Facebook cover photo.

Earlier this year, Smith (who also plays as part of the local duo "Poor Tim" with Justin Smithson) appeared live on First News with Keeler in the Morning and performed a popular country song in the studio.  [Watch the video of Shawn's performance on Keeler]
