Each year New York Upstate uses FBI crime data to compile a list of the most dangerous cities and towns in Upstate New York. This year, three local municipalities made the list.

The 2018 list comes from crime data gathered in 2016. According to NY Upstate,

The 2016 data, which is the latest available, breaks crime into two categories: violent crime and property crime. With each city is listed its crime score, population, total violent and property crimes, total murders and burglaries.

The three local municipalities that made the list represent each of our three local counties. Here they are from least to most dangerous. They will be numbered as they are on the 'Top 25' list.
