WIBX's First News with Keeler in the Morning and the Empire Recycling Family of Companies is partnering to bring relief to areas ravaged by Hurricane Dorian.  The supply drive will take place Thursday, September 12th from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm in the parking lot of Hannaford Supermarket, 4593 Commercial Drive, New Hartford.

WIBX will broadcast live from Hannaford where donations may be brought directly to the ERL Intermodal supply drive truck located in the parking lot.  Items will be shipped and distributed to the areas most effected by Hurricane Dorian, including the Carolinas and the Bahamas.

“The devastation that was left in Hurricane Dorian’s path is unimaginable,” said Steven Kowalsky, president of Empire Recycling Corporation.  “With one of our companies specializing in intermodal shipping, we knew we had the ability to ship donations to those in desperate need.  And working together with the generosity of our community, we will be bringing relief to the areas that need it the most.”

"This area is amazing when it comes to giving," said WIBX's Bill Keeler. "We're looking for all types of supplies; people really just need the basics."

Items needed include: Non-perishable food, water, baby supplies (diapers, formula, wipes), cleaning supplies (bleach, mops, brooms, pine sol, masks, sponges, disinfectants), unused blankets, mosquito nets, cots, flashlights, batteries, deet-free bug repellent, hygiene items (tissue, toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, soap, sanitary napkins), new socks and underwear, new clothes, paper products (toilet paper and paper towels), rubber gloves, trash bags, shovels, plastic sheeting, chain saws, cooking utensils, disposable plates, cups, forks, spoons, portable radios, and first aid items such as bandages.

The Empire Family of Companies includes Empire Recycling, ConfiData, SMR Fibre, Nathan Steel, and ERL Intermodal.  To learn more about the supply drive, visit www.erltrucks.com.
