Washington, DC (WIBX) - Congressman Richard Hanna has issued a statement on the spending deal that was reached on Friday night to avoid a government shutdown.

Hanna says he's pleased that both sides came together to achieve a fiscally
responsible spending plan that cuts almost  $40 billion in real spending.

The Barneveld Republcian says President Obama, House Speaker John Boehner and Senate leadership worked together to avoid a government shutdown that would have negatively impacted New Yorkers and all Americans.

And Hanna says the bill is free of distracting and divisive social policy riders he's opposed from the start.
