Herkimer Football Wins Class D Title at Dome

The Herkimer Magicians ran away with the Section III Class D Football title on Saturday with a 43-14 win over the Sandy Creek Comets.

Senior Quarterback Austin Mills started the game with a 63 yard touchdown pass in the opening seconds.  Herkimer led 21-14 at the half.

Five Sandy Creek turnovers helped shut down the Comets in the second half.  Herkimer capitalized, scoring two touchdowns and a field goal, before putting in their second string late in the fourth quarter.

It's Herkimer's 5th Section III title.

The Magicians move on to the State Regionals next Friday against the the Section IV winner, in Endicott, NY.
