LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — The Mt. Van Hoevenberg sliding track in Lake Placid is set to open for the season.

The mile-long track used in the 1980 Winter Olympics will open for athletes on Monday, weather permitting, The U.S. luge team, the skeleton squad and bobsledders all plan to start using the track on Monday.

Top competitors are due at the Adirondack Mountain track on the first weekend in December for Luge World Cup racing.
