SKANEATELES, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a field sobriety test performed at the scene and another blood test later showed the operator of a boat that hit her husband and critically injured his 8-year-old daughter on Skaneateles Lake was not intoxicated under state law.

Jamie Wheeler, of Homer, does face several charges, including unsafe towing of a person and no or insufficient visual distress signals.

Onondaga County Sheriff's detectives said the 33-year-old Wheeler was towing Christopher Driscoll and his daughter, Kaelynne, on an inner tube when the tube hit a wake and the two were thrown into the water. Deputies said the boat's propeller hit the two as the boat circled back around.

The girl, who lost an arm and a leg, has undergone several surgeries since the July accident.
