New York Teachers Union Praise Test Changes In Ad Campaign
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York teachers are celebrating changes in state education policy with a 10-day, $1 million statewide media campaign.
Ads by the New York State United Teachers union will run all week.
NYSUT leaders say that unprecedented activism by parents and teachers opened the door for changes in public education. They include a four-year moratorium on the use of Common Core test scores in teacher evaluations and a re-boot of the Common Core learning standards.
The ad campaign that kicked off Friday is backed by the state Parent Teachers Association, NAACP and the School Administrators Association of New York State.
