Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri is encouraging the community to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.

The Mayor's Office is collecting donations that will be sent to the Greater Houston Community Foundation's Hurriance Harvey Relief Fund.

Checks can be made out to the Greater Houston Community Foundation with Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund written in the memo line and dropped off at City Hall.

The City's Deputy Budget Director, Tony Nguyen, is a Houston native who has made Utica his home.  Palmieri says Nguyen still has immediate family and friends in Houston who have been impacted by the flooding.

Palmieri said, “One of the things I take most pride in being Mayor of Utica is the warmth and generosity of the people in this community.  While all natural disasters are tragic, this one hits home given how Tony has become a part of our Utica family, and this is what family does in a time of need.”

Residents can also donate to the American Red Cross at redcross.org.
