Redco, Salada Tea Plant in Little Falls to Close
Redco Foods in Little Falls has sold it's operation to a New Jersey company and the local plant could be closed in December, according to Little Falls Mayor Mark Blask. Redco, which employs under 200 workers, is the manufacturer and distributor of Salada and Red Rose brand teas.
Blask told WIBX that he'll be making a statement later on Tuesday after he speaks with the new owners, Harris Tea Company, a private label tea manufacturer located in Moorestown, NJ. Harris tea distributes the Harris Tea brand along with other private labels such as Newman's Own Organic Tea.
The Salada Tea plant in Little Falls was purchased by Red Rose from the Kellogg Corporation in 1988. Since then, they have produced Red Rose and Salada teas, Teekanne herbal tea, and Junket dessert mixes.
