Senate Approves Bill Increasing Penalties For Injuring K9 Officers
A bill that would toughen the penalty for killing or injuring a police animal has passed the State Senate.
Senator James Seward says the bill would increase the penalty from a misdemeanor to a felony.
The Senate bill received newfound attention after an FBI K-9 was shot and killed during a standoff in Herkimer.
The bill passed the Senate unanimously and has been sent to the Assembly.
