Senator James Seward is voicing his continued support for the legalization of Mix Martial Arts in New York State.

A bill to make the sport legal in New York was passed again today by a Senate committee and can now be considered by the full Senate.

Seward has voted for the legalization of MMA in each of the past six years.  Seward says he'll support the measure again as either stand-alone legislation or as part of the state budget.

Senator Seward met today with former UFC Champion Chris Weidman of Baldiwn, New York.  Weidman said "it would be a dream come true" to compete in his home state.

New York is the only state in the nation that does not allow professional MMA bouts.
