The Oneida County leg of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run took place on Thursday.

The 25-mile run began at the Oneida County Sheriff's Office in Oriskany and ended at State Police Troop D in Marcy.

More than 6,000 police officers, deputies, and troopers from 470 law enforcement agencies will carry the torch throughout the 56 legs of the run

18-year old Lauren Marraffa, a Special Olympian from Whitesboro, ran the first leg of the torch run.

The Olympic Torch will arrive at Siena College in two weeks for the start of the 2018 Summer State Games.
