Standoff In Herkimer Comes To Peaceful End

A nearly three hour standoff on Tuesday afternoon in the Village of Herkimer came to a peaceful ending.

Herkimer Police were called to a home at 602 Church Street at about 1:30 for a report of a man acting strangely inside the residence.  There was also a report that there was a woman inside the residence that was unable to leave.

Joseph Nolan was taken into custody at about 4:05.

Police say there were no injuries to anyone involved.

Police say the woman involved did not wish to pursue any criminal charges against Nolan.  They say Nolan was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Herkimer Police were assisted by the Ilion, Frankfort, Mohawk and Little Falls Police Departments, along with State Police.
