State Police Warn Of Hoax E-Mail

Albany, NY (WIBX) -State Police are investigating an e-mail scam that is circulating nationwide, primarly through Yahoo e-mail accounts, that purports to be a traffic ticket from the state DMV issued by State Police.

The bogus e-mail requests the recipient open an attached file to fill out information needed to process the ticket.

Police say the file is believed to contain a virus.

The e-mail subject line may contain the title "Uniform Traffic Ticket."

The file is currently being analyzed by the State Police Computer Forensics Lab.
