Tioga Downs Makes Casino Pitch in New York City

Representatives of Tioga Downs are to discuss details of their casino plan for the town of Nichols during a meeting of the state Gaming Facility Location Board in New York City.

The formal presentation is scheduled to be made Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

Tioga Downs owner Jeffrey Gural is to outline his proposal in a revised bid to obtain a full gaming license.

Plans submitted by Gural and a competing bid for a casino in the town of Union were deemed to be inadequate during the original casino review process.

The state reopened the casino licensing process for the Southern Tier region.

An Albany-area developer had expressed an interest in seeking a license for a site in the city of Binghamton but he did not submit an application.

A public hearing on the Tioga Downs casino proposal has been scheduled at SUNY Broome Community College. The comment event is to be held on September 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
